It is common to encounter confusion between rural vs. urban. Traditionally cities tend to be known as urban, while farms tend to be known as rural. Although there are differences between the two there are also similarities as well.

Although rural communities can be internet savvy, they tend to be driven by community, councils, weekly community papers, and trends.

Keys to Successful Rural Outreach Initiatives:

  1. Get to know a friendly face while attending community meetings or events

  2. Face-to-face, one-on-one communication

  3. Be honest with sincerity, listen attentively, and relaxed vs. projecting a "city" image

  4. Look for ways to collaborate with others with investment in the rural community.
