The Hoffmann Institute FOCUS Program
The Hoffmann Institute is finalizing the development of its FOCUS Program for serving congregations by developing outreach leadership teams.
Hoffmann Institute staff will lead the participants through engaging and dynamic modules based upon their experiences in outreach and teaching in outreach.
What is the FOCUS Program? Participants in FOCUS (preferably in a group of no less than three or four people from a congregation) will engage in a series of six 5-week modules over approximately a year’s time. These learning modules are designed to bring transformation to Christian congregations by enlightening, energizing and mobilizing the baptized people of God to share eagerly in missional leadership to the glory of Christ in their homes, churches and communities.
The program is designed around “hands-on” training in discipleship, which flows naturally into a life of witness and service. The process involves creating learning cohorts of growing disciples who want to disciple others.
Some of the module topics include:
• God’s Kingdom Storms the Gates of Hell (a biblical grounding in the “flow” of God’s mission through history, along with careful evaluation of how one’s life reflects God’s mission)
• Spiritual Leadership and Spiritual Warfare (developing a sound, accountable discipleship that is expressed through study, prayer, meditation, and practice of God’s call, as well as through seeking to build and multiply other disciples)
• God’s Mission in a Global World (exploration of how God’s love for all people informs our approach to neighbors with a variety of world views and religious perspectives)
When: The Hoffmann Institute is planning to roll-out the 1st (pilot) module by the fall of 2010.
Where: Anyone can be involved in the FOCUS modules from their home or even at the church building, wherever there is a high-speed internet connection available.
How: The FOCUS program will be presented to all participants through an on-line and interactive format using tools such as email and GoToMeeting. No special equipment is needed other than a computer with a high-speed internet connection. The program will include selected readings from the Bible and pertinent outreach material, as well as significant videos.
Participants will engage in practical ‘hands-on’ activities and share their learning experiences with other members of their cohort and their congregation utilizing their own unique, God-given gifts and skills. The complete series of books and videos is available through links on the Hoffmann Institute site. It is estimated that the total cost of books and materials will be $200 for all six modules.
