3 Keys to Begin a Witnessing Conversation

A witnessing conversation is best when you've cultivated a friendship, put yourself last and have been an example. While you may be learning patient endurance they may be learning to hear from the spirit leading them to come to you. Psalm 32:9 says, "Do not be like the horse or the mule, which have no understanding but must be controlled by bit and bridle or they will not come to you." In other words do not be stubborn, unwilling to listen, and argumentative.

May your heart be full of love and your eyes be open to see an opportunity to listen, relate to their needs, and empathize.

Keys to successfully beginning a witnessing conversation:

  1. When met with opposition or an argument, get understanding (Pr. 4:7; 19:8)
  2. Listen for the root of the problem
  3. Watch for an opportunity

Keys to a Direct witnessing conversation:

Here are additional ways, that are more direct:
Ask if the person has prayer requests, and be ready to talk about why you believe that God answers prayer, even though we do not deserve the answer.

Make a direct inquiry, such as:
What is your impression of the essentials of Christianity? (Your hope is that you will then be able to add your descriptions of those essentials).
